Community Tree Data Collection Campaign
Budget $25,000
Timeline 3 months
Summary Green-Ideas conducted an outreach campaign for the Urban Forest Map. Our primary goal was to drive hits to the site (www.urbanforestmap.org), engage community participating in adding data to the site and raise awareness about urban forestry. Our core strategy was to reach out through community groups and maximize news stories. We used traditional public relations efforts combined with grassroots activities to drive media attention and bring publicity to the project. We also included grassroots outreach measures by reaching out through local NGOs and neighborhood groups. The project has received strong media attention, including an article in WIRED and a feature piece on KQED Quest. We also drove over 20,000 hits to the site and over 1,000 tree participants. This level of publicity also attracted highly valuable new project partners.
